I do have a very small part-time clinic practice, in which I do work with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. At the current time, I am not taking on new clients.
Nevertheless, the following information is provided to all prospective clients and outlines some basic information about my services, including areas of expertise, fee structure and expectations, outcomes, and confidentiality.
Clinical Services Offered: My clinical practice is limited to my areas of expertise. I can offer assessment, consultation, and therapy for a range of these areas. My emphasis and experience is primarily with adults, families, and children or adolescents on a variety of topics:
• Attachment Difficulties
• Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity-Disorder
• Developmental Delay
• Mood and anxiety disorders
• Sexual problems, disruptive behaviours, or conduct problems
• Emotional difficulties
• General Positive Relationship Issues
• Enuresis and encopresis
• Sleep problems
• Adjustment to illness and treatment
• Compliance with medical treatments
Fees:
It is important to note that my services are not covered by New Brunswick Medicare. While some or all of the expenses incurred for services may be reimbursed by the Canadian Forces, Veterans Affairs Canada, or by your private health care plan (e.g., Blue Cross), anything that is not covered will be submitted directly to you for payment. My fee is $210 per hour. (Session minimum is 1 hour, with additional time billed per half hour.)
Therapy and consultation services: Between five and twelve sessions is typical, although I do schedule more sessions in many cases. I want clients to feel comfortable in contacting me when necessary, so you are encouraged to telephone to clarify problems or have questions answered. Telephone calls are charged only if they exceed 15 minutes.
Formal psychological assessments: Although the focus of my clinical practice is on providing therapeutic services, I may consider completing formal psychological assessments. Psychological assessments often take between 12 and 16 hours of work, which includes time for test scoring and report preparation. Comprehensive assessments can cost somewhere in the vicinity of $1900 to $2500, but may be more or less depending on the complexity of the presenting problem. Many clients with health insurance plans have a large portion of the assessment fees covered. If you have any questions regarding billing, please don’t hesitate to ask.
Breakdown of fees for a typical assessment:
Face to face time: 6-10 hours depending on age of client ($960 - $1600)
Scoring and interpretation: 2-4 hours billed ($320 - $640)
Report preparation: 4-6 hours billed ($640 - $960)
Payment: I currently accept cash or cheque or electronic payment via e-mail (payment is invoiced directly to Medavie Blue Cross for CAF and VAC members). It is customary to pay for services at the end of each session.
Cancellation Policy: I am happy to reschedule appointments at your request. However, please note that I do require 24 hours notice. No shows or late cancellations will be charged an administration fee of $100.00
Outcomes: Although the psychological and behavioral techniques I use have been demonstrated in numerous research studies to be effective, it should be understood that I cannot guarantee any particular outcome. However, I think it is important to evaluate progress throughout treatment and adjust as needed. I encourage you to identify any concerns that you might have.
Confidentiality: All the information obtained in the treatment and assessment process is, of course, considered absolutely confidential and will only be sent to those persons whom you request to receive copies. There are, however, a few exceptions to confidentiality. We are required by law to break confidentiality if, during the course of our work, it comes to our attention that
• You or your child is at risk for self-harm or a risk to harm to others
• We come to believe that another health care provider has engaged in sexual activity with a client/patient
• It comes to our attention that a child under the age of 16 is at risk for abuse or neglect
• Information is requested by the courts

I help investigators as well as governmental and non-governmental organizations design projects, collect and analyze data, and report empirical findings. Most of the organizations with which I have worked have been interested in finding out whether what they are doing actually works. If you have questions that relate to whether a particular program is working or in identifying evidence-based practices that might be helpful for your agency, I would be happy to discuss the possibility of consulting.
